Private Residence, Upper East Side, NYC/ Sunny Pied-a-terre
This 3 bedroom skyline apartment was purchased by the owners of Crypton fabrics, leaders in the performance fabric industry, to be used as a pied-a-terre because they spend about a third of the year doing business in NYC. The space would multi function as a comfortable living space for the couple and their occasional grandkids, a striking entertainment space, as well as a showcase for their "super fabrics". They wanted playful elements of surprise and a bit of "wow factor". Ghislaine Vinas, the "queen of color" brought me into the project, and partnering we created an energizing and glamorous contemporary space that doesn't take itself too seriously. Using a sunny palette of Crypton fabrics, not only on the furniture, but also on feature walls, headboards and in distinct color blocking. The furniture and objects where chosen for their sinouy cheerful form. Contrasty, white and black hard scape furniture add a boldness and graphic aspect to the furnishings, satisfying the owners penchant for playfulness and spontaneity.
